Genesis G80 vs. BMW 5 Series

The Genesis G80 and the BMW 5 Series are two premier luxury vehicles on the market today. Their well-balanced blend of sporty performance and opulent design is what makes these cars so appealing to the most sophisticated drivers.

Our team at Norm Reeves Genesis wrote this vehicle comparison so our drivers in Cerritos, Long Beach, and Anaheim can get a better idea of how the Genesis G80 and the BMW 5 Series stack up against each other.

Genesis G80 vs. BMW 5 Series: Engine Performance

The Genesis G80 is like a restless Quarter Horse itching to get out the gate. It features two different engine options that both offer incredible power. With the 3.8L GDI V6 engine, you'll have up to 311 horsepower and 293 lb-ft of torque at your command. With the 5.0L GDI V8 engine, you'll get 420 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque.

Although the BMW 5 Series surely has an athletic reputation, its horsepower and torque output is slightly lackluster. With its 2.0L 4-cylinder gas engine, you'll only get a maximum of 240 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque.

Interior and Exterior Design

BMW has been manufacturing the 5 Series since 1972. The entire Genesis fleet of luxury vehicles wasn't revealed to the world until 2015. This discrepancy is definitely evident in the differences between the design concepts of the cars. The G80 is the new kid on the block; it's fresher, more exciting, and less antiquated than the 5 Series.

For the interior, the Genesis G80 is decked out with supremely comfortable leather seats and a matte-finish wood trim that ties the cabin together. Not only does it look handsome, but it inspires with a sense of splendor. When you take a seat behind the wheel of the Genesis G80, you'll instantly feel like a VIP.

While the interior of the BMW 5 Series also looks very appealing, it doesn't evoke the same feelings of power and privilege. With such an inferior driving experience, the interior of the 5 Series can't measure up to the interior of the G80.

On the exterior, the Genesis G80 announces your arrival with its bold hexagonal front grille and the unmistakable dual-winged Genesis logo. It announces your departure with its modern quadruple tailpipe. The exterior of the BMW 5 Series is significantly less impressive. The front grille isn't as assertive and the rear tailpipes don't look nearly as cool. All in all, its frame is more gaunt and reserved than that of the Genesis G80.
