2018 Genesis G80 vs 2017 Genesis G80

If you're considering upgrading your car to the luxurious Genesis G80 midsize sedan, you may find yourself wondering about the differences between the 2017 and the 2018 model. What does the 2018 model year offer that's new and different? How will the new features enhance my drives around Cerritos, Long Beach, and Anaheim? This comparison of the 2018 Genesis G80 vs. 2017 Genesis G80 from the team at Norm Reeves Genesis will help you answer all your questions, allowing you to determine which model year is best suited to your needs.

Performance: 2018 G80 vs 2017 G80

Under the hood of the 2018 G80, you'll find a standard 3.8L V6 engine that produces 311 horsepower. Available options include a 5.0L V8 that offers 420 horsepower, and an all-new twin-turbocharged 3.3L V6 that produces 365 horsepower.

The 2017 model year offers only a 3.8L and a 5.0L engine; there are no turbocharged options to make for an athletic, sporty drive. Rear-wheel drive is standard on both models, and all-wheel drive is available for improved handling and traction on wet, slippery road conditions.

Genesis G80 Trim Levels: 2018 vs 2017

Both the 2018 and 2017 Genesis G80 offer both the base G80 3.8L trim level and the G80 5.0L trim level, but you'll only find the Sport trim level available on the 2018 model year.

The Sport trim level offers an enhanced drive that's fun and sporty. You'll get standard wood and aluminum interior trim, as well as a head-up display that projects important information directly onto the windshield in the bottom of the driver's field of vision.

The vehicle is upgraded further with standard sport front seats with a simulated suede headliner, carbon-fiber interior trim, and stylish dark chrome exterior trim. You'll also get the Lexicon® 17-speaker audio system standard. The turbocharged engine is standard on the Sport trim, as well as 19-inch wheels and an adaptive suspension.

Genesis G80 Features

Inside the sedans, you'll find an interior that is fundamentally the same. Both cars offer roomy seating for five on standard leather upholstery. The front seats are heated for comfort on chilly mornings, and the steering wheel and shift knob are leather-wrapped for a luxurious, upscale feel.

The trunk offers 15.3 cubic feet of cargo capacity, which is slightly above average for the class, and offers enough space for your golf clubs, groceries, or whatever else you'll need to bring along on your drives. For added convenience, the trunk opens automatically when you stand behind the vehicle with the key, so it's easy to load up even when your hands are full.

The 2018 model offers several features not available on the 2017 model, such as standard adaptive LED headlights and an optional wireless device charging pad.
